Summer Bishil Bio
Summer Bishil was a Pasadena, California native. Her family and her went to Europe when she was just three. Summer went to American as well as British schools and her family was living in the United States. She returned to Pasadena just prior to her 14th birthday. Summer was fascinated by the thought that she would be an actor since the age five she took her first acting course at age 14. Nine months later, she was signed by an agent and a manager and began to follow her goal full-time. She is enrolled in college in her own time, and is working on her degree. The actress was named one of the "Ten Actors To Watch" by Variety (2007). Nominated for Best Actress รข€“ Spirit Award. Bishil began taking acting lessons when she was 14 years old. In just one year, she had been hired by an agency and a manager. Bishil began her career with the Nickelodeon TV show Just for Kicks. After that she was signed an agreement with a manager and an agency. Her breakout role was in Alan Ball's 2007 film Towelhead. It's an adaptation of the book with the same title. Slate critic Dana Stevens said, "Her performance is the most genuine thing in a film that, in spite of its noble intentions, seems completely fake and mildly embarrassing, like an extended PSA regarding inappropriate touching." Bob Strauss, a Los Angeles journalist for a newspaper, said that Bishil "...is one of the most talented natural film actresses in recent years. In an article in the 12th of September Los Angeles Times review, Gary Goldstein stated that Summer Bishil is an unproven "...newcomer performs an impressive and sassy performance in the role of Jasira. She was the director of Wayne Kramer's Crossing Over project in 2009 which starred Harrison Ford and Ray Liotta. Jay Reiner of the Associated Press liked her portrayal. She was chosen to play Azula in M. Night Shyamalan's 2010 film The Last Airbender. This was to be the main focus of the planned, but never released sequel.
