Pollyanna McIntosh
Pollyanna McIntosh grew up in Portugal
and Colombia before returning to her native Scotland which is where she first
started performing on stage in The Edinburgh Festival. She relocated to London
at the age of 16 and soon started to become involved in indie filmmaking. Her
first job that was paid was working as a stoner in Irvine Welsh's The Acid
House (1998). She also performed as an actress and a director in theatre. In
2004, she relocated to Los Angeles to direct "The Woolgatherer", a
play in which Anne Dudek (a regular guest on Mad Men (2007)/Big Love (2006))
was directed. It received great reviews. In Headspace (2005), she landed her
first US film role as "Stacy" as a manipulative and a born-again
Christian. The first time she appeared in a movie was in Headspace (2005) as
the manipulative, born-again Christian "Thumper Wint". This comedy
was written by Heathers (1988). Exam (2009) that was the first, in which she
worked with in London and LA followed. BAFTA-nominated for Outstanding British
Debut and winner at the Santa Barbara Film Fest of Best Independent,
Pollyanna's performance was "smart and sassy at the same time." parts
the emotion center of the movie" and her ability to appreciate the
"emotional vulnerability” of her spirited and tough character. GQ has
stated that Pollyanna McIntosh, an outstanding actress who is "extremely
skilled". Como Quien No Quiere La Cosa (2013) (As if you Don't Like it! )
is a hilarious South American farce in which she plays Brit actor Trevor Lock's
disgruntled wife. Filmed in Peru, she speaks Spanish throughout. In Burke and
Hare (2010) directed by John Landis, she plays Isla Fisher's bestie along with
Simon Pegg, Andy Serkis, Jessica Hynes, Tom Wilkinson and Tim Curry. Lucky
McKee's The Woman (2011) was an immense success. The film received rave reviews
and also topped the New York Times readers' favourite movies poll. She was
awarded three Best Actress nominations, including Total Film’s Frightfest Award
as well as Fright Meter's.
